The Network

Built with locals — for the people moving toward them.

StayMX is a local-first network for living well in Mexico. We connect newcomers with the rentals, vendors, and people who actually make a destination work — and we build the trusted layer with locals who already do this informally.

What we are

A network, not a directory

Most platforms in this space are either content sites (Google search results, listicles, comparison tables) or pure marketplaces (Airbnb, Idealista, Vrbo). They optimize for volume — more listings, more clicks, more reviews — and they leave it to the user to figure out what's actually trustworthy.

StayMX is built around the opposite premise: that the most valuable thing in a new city is a single trusted person who can answer real questions, make real introductions, and help you skip the rookie mistakes. The platform exists to find that person, give them tools, and connect them with people who need them.

How it works

The shape of the platform

1

Custom plans

Each newcomer answers a short intake (where, when, what matters). We generate a personalized plan with neighborhoods, vendors, rentals, tips, and a matched Local Connector.

2

Local Connectors

Real people on the ground in each destination. Vetted, profiled, paid for what they do. They're the human layer — the difference between a search engine and a network.

3

Verified vendors

A growing directory of local services — handymen, doctors, restaurants, contractors, surf instructors, vets. Each vendor is tagged by trust source: listed, community-recommended, or Connector-vouched.

4

Real-world rentals

Property listings from local landlords we know — long-term and short-term — without booking fees. Renters contact landlords directly.

5

Local events + tips

What's actually worth doing in each destination, surfaced by Connectors who go to these things themselves.

Who it serves

Three audiences, one network

Seekers

People moving to or visiting Mexico who want a real plan and a real person, not 47 browser tabs and a Facebook group thread.

Local Connectors

Locals who already help newcomers informally. The platform formalizes that work, gives them tools, and pays them for it.

Local businesses

Vendors, landlords, service providers — the people who depend on word of mouth. Free listing, optional partnership upgrades.

Where we are

2,216+ vendors. 18 destinations. Just getting started.

Lake Chapala is our first focused destination for Connector recruiting. Puerto Escondido is our second. The vendor directory already covers all 18 destinations, but Connectors are the throughline — and we're building that layer city by city, conversation by conversation.
